Empeltre

Our Organic Empeltre oil comes from Jesús Burillo’s olive groves located in the Lower Aragon region

Organic extra virgin olive oil

Premium Organics’ Empeltre Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a superior quality oil, obtained directly from olives and only by mechanical processes.
This filtered oil possesses arbequina and manzanilla nuances. It is harvested early, around November, and is of a limited and exclusive production.

Empeltre is a variety of olives from Araóon. The colour of the Empeltre oil is between straw yellow and old gold.

It possesses fruity aromas, especially apple, and a subtle, sweet taste of almond and tomato. The touch of arbequina and manzanilla adds a mild bitterness, a slight spiciness and vegetable aromas.

The result is an oil with harmony between sweet and spicy, fruity. It has a long aftertaste and is very fresh and pleasant on the palate. It pairs perfectly with salads, potatoes, pastas, meat and dairy.

The Empeltre is an artisan oil that has been produced for several generations by Jesús Burillo Alquézar´s family. The olives come from its 5 hectare olive grove located in the municipalities of Alacón and Oliete, Lower Aragón, within the Cultural Park of the Martín River at 700 metres above sea level.

Jesus’ olive grove has approximately 800 olive trees, many of which are centuries-old. Among them, in addition to Empeltre, there is the Manzanota, a native variety of the area.

To achieve the optimal harvesting time, the ripening of the olive in the tree is monitored. The harvesting process is manual, preventing the fruit from coming into contact with the soil, and only completely healthy olives are harvested.

The mill to extract the oil is located just five minutes from the olive grove, thus making it only 24 hours from harvest to cold extraction. Jesús Burillo Alquézars´  farms are cultivated according to organic farming standards.
